Thick-film resistors with Pb content < 100 ppm – fully RoHS compliant without exemption

Prosperity Dielectrics Co., Ltd. (PDC), one of Taiwan's leading manufacturers of ceramic-based passive components, is expanding its portfolio of lead-free thick-film resistors with the new FCF-G Green Series. This series features a particularly low lead content of less than 100 ppm and fully complies with the RoHS directive without relying on the still-existing exemption for certain applications.

While many conventional thick-film resistors continue to make use of RoHS exemption 7(c)-I (“electrical and electronic components containing lead in glass or ceramics”), the FCF-G series clearly falls well below this threshold and is not only under the strict limit of 0.1% (1,000 ppm) but even below the particularly demanding value of 100 ppm. This makes PDC a future-proof solution for customers who already want to use RoHS-compliant products today without any exemption – especially in view of the expected tightening of RoHS requirements in the coming years.

Technical highlights of the FCF-G series at a glance:

  • Case sizes: 0402 to 2512
  • Resistance range: 0 Ω (jumper) as well as 10 Ω to 10 MΩ
  • Rated power: 1/16 W to 1 W (depending on case size)
  • Tolerances: typically 1% and 5% (others available on request)
  • Lead content: < 100 ppm (RoHS exemption-free)
  • Additional features: halogen-free, compatible with lead-free reflow and wave soldering, high reliability and stability

The new Green Series is particularly suitable for applications in industrial electronics, medical technology, consumer electronics and IoT devices, where increasingly stringent environmental and compliance requirements apply.
