Support for capacitors

Arisen out of necessity in 2000, and continuously refined and continued since then. Due to a faulty design of the circuit board with traces under a 4-pin high-voltage snap-in capacitor, the required creepage distances were no longer given. The layout artist had failed to see the rivet of the snap-in claw as a live part in his layout software. Because the circuit boards were already finished and the customer was already behind with deliveries, the plan was to quickly insert an insulating washer between the capacitor and the circuit board so that the creepage distance could be increased accordingly.

We manufactured and supplied this.

Today we can offer a large number of insulating washers for electrolyte capacitors. From pitch 5 mm through 7.5 to 10 mm, as a version for radial electrolytic capacitors, as well as for snap-in capacitors in 2/3-pin pitch 10 mm and 4-pin versions. But not just insulating washers – holders for electrolytic capacitors, spacers and insulating components have now also been added to our range of products.

Many of these plastic parts have arisen from problems faced by developers that we were able to solve quickly by thinking outside of the box. Behind every holder for electrolytic capacitors there is an exciting story.
With the spacers, for example, we have a defined solution for moving electrolytic capacitors away from “hot” conductor traces, or we can use them to place other customer SMD components in the space in between. In another project, a 30° spacer makes more space available for the electrolytic capacitor in the enclosure.

The concept of installing radial electrolytic capacitors in a lying-down arrangement is not new. However, this required an additional mounting if the application was to be subjected to vibrations. Many of our customers still stick capacitors – or the outer sleeve made of PET, to be more specific – with aggressive adhesive onto the circuit board. Our holders for electrolytic capacitors offer a much simpler and more reliable solution with superior long-term stability, and we have them for direct soldering (wave soldering) or for snapping into the circuit board. The advantage here is the defined way in which the technological process is performed and always repeated. We have these capacitor holders available for radial capacitors from Ø6.3 to Ø18, as well as for snap-in electrolytic capacitors.

Our insulating components have also already been used in numerous projects. Starting from silicone caps for radial high-voltage electrolytic capacitors, through double electrical insulation of the electrolytic capacitor can and on to thermal shielding (colour: white or black), many things are already available as standard.

With this product range, we live from the ideas of our customers and say “tailor-made solutions are welcome”!
