Shunt-based current sensors

It must be possible to measure currents accurately and reliably, even in large applications. The manufacturer RESI offers appropriate system solutions for this purpose.

Based on the latest shunt technology, sensors are offered that have various communication options.

The CB350/CB600/CB1000 current sensors are current measurement modules that are not only suitable for the automotive industry and can be used to measure bidirectional direct current. They are characterised by high accuracy, low power consumption, a wide operating temperature range, excellent response speed, temperature stability and interference immunity.

The sensors, based on a low TCR shunt, use a 24-bit ADC and an MCU core in M0 architecture. They communicate via the CAN2.0 A/B protocol and have protection against static discharge, temperature compensation, current calibration and other functions.

The sensors fulfil the operating temperature range of -40℃ ~+105℃, can be used for a continuous operating current of -1000A~+1000A and a temperature measurement of -50℃~+150℃. The current measurement accuracy is ±0.1% in the range of +50A~+1000A or -1000A~-50A, the maximum temperature measurement offset error in the temperature operating range is ±3℃.

The CB series communication modules operate in the voltage range from 6V to 18V. The power consumption is less than 384mW (12VDC), and it can realise full high-low voltage isolation, which can be applied to the positive or negative main electrode of the battery system.

With the specified properties, the sensors in RESI's CB series are ideal for BMS applications (battery management systems) or wherever large direct currents need to be measured.

Incidentally, RESI has all manufacturing expertise in-house and is therefore independent of suppliers. The resistor alloys and thick-film pastes are supplied in-house in addition to the electron beam welding (EBW) production technology. In addition to security of supply, the complete internal value chain also ensures extremely competitive prices.
