High-current Y2/X1 film capacitors for wide-bandgap power supply systems R41D V234

The YAGEO Group is expanding its range of film capacitors with the R41D V234 series, a new generation of high-current-capacity, metallised polypropylene capacitors (Y2/X1) for EMC suppression, specifically designed for modern broadband power converters. Based on the proven R41D platform with high voltage rise rate (dV/dt), the V234 series, with its C-specification, significantly improves the ability to withstand residual ripple. This enables developers to easily handle the higher switching speeds and transient currents of SiC and GaN devices. With a capacitance range of 0.001 µF to 0.22 µF, a rated voltage of 300 V AC (50/60 Hz) and a recommended DC voltage of 1200 V DC, the R41D V234 series offers reliable EMC suppression in compact radial packages. High voltage rise rates and improved resilience to residual ripple: Broadband power converters generate higher transient loads on passive components.

The R41D V234 series addresses these challenges by:

  • High dV/dt rating of 6000 / 4500 / 3000 V/µs (10 / 15 / 22.5 mm pitch)
  • Up to approximately twice the Irms rating compared to standard versions
  • Metallised polypropylene film technology for consistent performance

The improved ripple current handling capability enables designers to reduce the number of capacitors required in EMC filters, thereby reducing the number of components, costs and PCB space requirements. Designed for reliability and harsh environments.

The R41D V234 series is designed for long-term reliability and demanding operating conditions, and features the following characteristics:

  • High temperature resistance: +125°C
  • Long service life in hot and humid environments (THB)
  • Long operating life.
