New flat SMD aluminium capacitor for e-mobility and more

KEMET, a leading manufacturer of capacitors, presents the AAR8S, an innovative generation of rectangular surface mount aluminium electrolytic capacitors. The AEC-Q200 qualified component impresses with its flat, rectangular design, which enables perfect integration into heat sinks and offers outstanding thermal efficiency. With high ripple current capability and excellent electrical performance, the AAR8S sets new standards in automotive and energy technology.

The DC-Link capacitor is specifically designed for e-mobility applications, including inverters, wallboxes and on-board chargers with full SMD capability. It is also used in UPS systems (uninterruptible power supply) and micro inverters. Thanks to its low profile, it is ideal for systems with limited height dimensions and maximises space utilisation through high volumetric efficiency.

The AAR8S is currently available with 150µF and 450Vdc in the dimensions 52.7x46x15mm (LxWxH).

The service life at full stress, i.e. at 105°C and full utilisation of the ripple current, is specified as 2,000 hours. The maximum capacity loss at the end of the specified service life is -15%.
